Our SAC at Avila for this Area of Study is a Research Inquiry.
We have a research document which will be completed in class in hard copy booklets.
This will be handed in after the lesson and will be the only document allowed in the SAC.
If you are a teacher and would like a copy of our SAC or the preparation material, please contact me by email,.

You are a consultant for a large-scale producer in your chosen industry. For the last three years, the producer has relied on a single pesticide to manage a persistent pest. This morning, the manager reports that despite a perfect application yesterday, roughly 15% of the pests in the North paddock appear healthy and unaffected.
Furthermore, a neighbouring farm has just been quarantined by Agriculture Victoria due to a suspected outbreak of an exotic disease.
1. Biological Analysis (4 Marks) Analyse why the treatment is likely failing. In your answer, refer to the concepts of selection pressure and genetic inheritance.
2. Integrated Management Solution (4 Marks) Propose a double knock strategy or an IPM to deal with the 15% of pests that survived. Your solution must include at least one non-chemical control method from your research.
3. Biosecurity Action (2 Marks) Given the quarantine on the neighbouring farm, identify the national Act that oversees exotic threats and describe one immediate property biosecurity measure the manager should take to protect their own stock or crops.
